LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- World Showcase transforms into a splendor of international holiday traditions and storytelling when Epcot presents Holidays Around the World Nov. 23-Dec. 30.
Holiday icons -- such as France's Père Noël and Italy's La Befana -- make special appearances in their respective countries, while Santa Claus himself pays visits to The American Adventure. Hanukah and Kwanzaa customs are also showcased.

A highlight of Holidays Around the World, Candlelight Processional, treats guests to a grand musical performance featuring a mass choir and a full orchestra, accompanied by a celebrity narrator who retells the beloved story of Christmas. Presentations are daily at America Gardens Theatre (seating is limited). Scheduled celebrity narrators include (subject to change):

Nov. 26-28: actor John O'Hurley (Seinfeld, Dancing with the Stars)

At nightfall, Mickey Mouse and his friends host a gala tree-lighting ceremony -- Mickey's Tree Lighting Treat -- complete with music and storytelling, in World Showcase Plaza.

A dazzling synchronized light show -- The Lights of Winter -- illuminates a canopy adorning the World Showcase breezeway bridge.

The laser, lights and fireworks spectacular, "Illuminations: Reflections of Earth," complete with a holiday finale, caps the celebration.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

This popular party, which takes place following regular theme park hours and requires a separate admission, has been expanded to 19 nights between Nov. 12 and Dec. 21.
(Specifically Nov. 12, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, 30 and Dec. 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 21.)

Beginning at 7 p.m. (after regular park hours), guests with tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party can enjoy a holiday celebration featuring:

festive live stage shows
the famous "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade"
Disney characters in their holiday best for meet-and-greets
"Holiday Wishes--Celebrate the Spirit of the Season," a winter wonderland of dazzling fireworks set to classic holiday tunes.

Partygoers can enjoy festive surprises including an all-new Castle Light Show. Cinderella Castle is adorned with thousands of shimmering white lights, covering the turrets and towers like a glistening blanket of ice. The twinkling lights create an elegant wintry effect perfect for the seasonal celebration. Lighting up the castle becomes a Dream Come True moment as Cinderella joins Mickey, Minnie and the gang for the nightly ceremony.

“Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” celebrates the many festive moods of the holiday season, showcasing a series of holiday themes including a Friends and Family Christmastime Party, a sleigh ride through a Winter Wonderland, a romantic Fairy Tale Christmastime, a scrumptious display of Christmastime sweets, and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus in a grand finale. And for longtime Disney Christmas parade fans: Soldiers, Snowflakes and dancing deer are all still in the parade. The parade features original music as well as both classic and current holiday tunes.

No holiday celebration would be complete without snow -- even in Florida, where the weather outside is hardly frightful. At Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party there is a 100 percent chance of flurries on Main Street, U.S.A each party night. And just in case the sight causes a chill: Complimentary hot cocoa and cookies are served. In addition to the holiday fun, guests can enjoy many of the most popular Magic Kingdom attractions.

Admission to the party requires a separate admission ticket. Tickets are $47.95 plus tax for ages 10/up and $40.95 plus tax for ages 3-9. (Special "advance purchase" discount tickets are available on the following dates: Nov. 12, 15, 25, 27, 29, Dec. 2, 4, 9, and 11 only).

Annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can buy advance tickets at a special discount price on Nov. 15, 27, and Dec. 11 and 18 only.

Harry Potter Universal

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is scheduled to open in late 2009. At the Islands of Adventure theme park, part of the Universal Orlando resort in Florida. Universal is touting the new "island" as a "theme park within a theme park." The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will occupy a previously undeveloped area at the park as well as part of the land that currently hosts the Lost Continent (home of the Dueling Dragons coaster).

Entrance to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be included in the general admission to Islands of Adventure.

Attractions Planned for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter:

At its initial announcement of the project, Universal didn't offer many details about the actual rides and attractions planned for the Potter land. This much is known: There will be multiple attractions, including one that the park promises will be "state-of-the-art." Industry rumors indicate that the signature ride will use robotic arms (such as the ones used for the Knight's Tournament Robocoaster at Legoland California) to take passengers on a flying car ride. It's also likely that the Dueling Dragons coaster will be imbued with the Potter theme.

Simpsons at Universal

Universal has made it official. Homer, Bart, Marge, and the rest of The Simpsons gang are coming to the Universal Studios parks in Florida and Hollywood. Slated to open in Spring 2008, the denizens of Springfield will bring their enduringly popular, unique, and often hilarious worldview to new attractions in the buildings that hosted the Back to the Future ride films. Guests will ride along with The Simpsons as they explore Krusty Land, a toon theme park developed by the TV show's Krusty the Clown. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the attraction will use Back to the Future's giant OMNIMAX domed screens and motion simulation vehicles. Guests with enormous blue bouffants shouldn't get too concerned about destroying their dos.
